Spring Frog Crochet Pattern

In the summer, I loved watching the tadpoles develop into frogs. They were so slimy and fascinating, swimming and then hopping around. They weren't that pretty... But the Spring Frog Crochet pattern I created here makes them look a whole lot cuter!

Just a stuffed frog head

(Don't mind the headless frog...)

I've seen adorable crochet frogs, but I wanted to create one like the cute amphibians in my imagination. I started out using Yarn Bee Cozy Occasion yarn, which made the frog huge and amazing. He's seriously so snuggly! That took two skeins.

Yarn Bee and Baby Bee Yarn

I had the pattern all written out and I wanted to try with a different yarn to see if I could make it a little smaller but still just as cute... And I did! The next frog I used some Baby Bee Yarn, Adore-A-Ball, that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. 2 skeins, also. I followed the pattern exactly as I had written it, adjusting here and there, and he turned out so much better than I could have hoped for!

But I wasn't finished...

I asked myself: why not try medium weight yarn?

So I did. Crafter's Secret Big Idea, which is my preferred weight 4 yarn. The colors are beautiful, and you get so much yardage for the money, especially when it's on sale! I created the smaller one with the same exact pattern, and he turned out a little more stern-looking than carefree and ready for cuddles (I think I may have just sewn his eye brows on wonky, so that's on me), but I still love him!

Thus, my Summer Frog Family was finished! I was so excited to share him with the world! I've made several and sold several since my first, and I cannot express how happy it makes me knowing that my creations have found homes where they will be loved and treasured for years to come.

These are perfect for spring and summer craft fairs! The work up fairly quickly. You make the arms first and crochet them onto the body. You will make the head separately, as well as the eyebrows/features. They are not difficult at all to sew, though, especially using cotton blend or acrylic yarn. You can also sew eyes on instead of using safety eyes, which will make them safer for younger children.

(You should never give toys that have potential choking hazards to children under the age of 6)

These guys are perfect for spring and summer markets! The kids can pick them up and snuggle them, they fall in love instantly. You won't be able to keep them on the table!

Creating stuffed animals is a passion of mine, that I'm sure started when I filled my room with hundreds of them as a child. Haha. They're special items that children can play with or cuddle, can be comforted by or that can help them learn to nurture. They have their own personalities, and I love them all!

I hope you'll see this Spring Frog Crochet Pattern and decide you want to make one, yourself!
