These Prayer Squares with their little bubble-crosses are fun, quick, easy, and will mean so much to whomever you decide to gift them to!
I've been doing The Bible Recap every day (mostly) and whenever I listen to the Bible read and then listen to the podcast, I need something to do with my hands. What better way to concentrate on the Lord, the blessings, the prayers, and the Bible than to make a prayer square? I love making these, because they're quick, cute and so simple. They're also meant to be gifted, which is something I love to do with my talent! If I have a lot of them then I'll put them in a "FREE" basket at my markets. People seem to love it, which makes me happy.
These squares are so simple, you'll be able to make one for every person at your church, your job, your family and random people on the street!
PRAYER SQUARE NOTES:
The hook you use will depend on the yarn you use. Please read the labels to make sure you're using the correct crochet hook.
These instructions are written in US terms
The starting chain can be however big you want to make it, but it needs to be an odd number so that the bubble stitches will be in the middle of the piece. You will also need to adjust the horizontal Bobble row (11) so that it's even (I made a 15 starting CH and had to add an extra SC to the beginning and end of the 11th row)
I prefer to use a foundation single-crochet to start, and I know I don't make one like other people. So please don't feel obligated to follow my lead on that. (You'll see in the video)
Instead of a chain-1, I loke to pull the loop up about 1/2 an inch and twist it 3 times. (In the video I'll link, you can see me do this)
The beginning chain is the only place where I "CH 1, turn" in this pattern
Instead of using single-crochets to border your piece, you can use the reverse SC, which is fun but tedious. It does give it a great look! (photo below)
When creating the row after a bobble row, you will SC into the SC at the top of the bobble.
MATERIALS
Here are the materials I used for this particular prayer square:
4mm crochet hook
1 skein Peaches 'N' Cream 100% cotton yarn in teal
Fiskar scissors
Tapestry needle
CROCHET TERMS:
CH - chain
SC - single crochet
Turn - At the end of the row do not make a chain; instead, pull the yarn up about 1/2 an inch, turn your work, and twist your hook (yarn and all) 2-3 times. Continue crocheting as usual.
Bobble - Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops. Repeat in the same stitch until you have a total of 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over, pull through all 6 loops at once. Chain 1 to finish

SC evenly down the side of your square. 3SC in the corner, SC across the bottom, 3SC in the next corner, SC evenly up the side, 3SC in the corner, SC across the top of the square. Fasten off with a slip-stitch in the last corner. Hide your tail.
Now you're done!
Go give out all the Prayer Squares!
VIDEO
Here's a little video I made to help the visual learners a little. I'm not great at tutorials, but I'm trying! I like to share whatever knowledge I gain. I hope this helps a bit!
This Prayer Square was made using Premier Yarn that I bought from Dollar Tree
This Prayer Square was made using I Love This Cotton Yarn from Hobby Lobby, with the Reverse SC as the border.
Thank you so much for your time and support!
I'm not great at updating and blogging and such, but any support you show is SO appreciated! God has blessed me greatly by allowing me to do what I love!
